Journeyman Diesel Technician Wanted

Position Summary
Able to diagnose, overhaul, adjust & repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment including but not limited to the following:
Engines – Gas & Diesel
Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems
Transmissions – Manual & Automatic
Clutches
Differentials/Power Dividers
PTO Systems
Starters/Alternators
Engine Electronics – Gas & Diesel
Power Steering Systems & Steering Gearbox  - Manual & Power

Major Responsibilities
Demonstrate proficiency in the repair & diagnosis of:
Engines – Gas & Diesel
Power train to include differentials
Transmissions – Manual & Automatic
Clutches
Drive Shafts
PTO’s & wheel ends
Electrical Systems – including starters & alternators, HVAC, Steering, Refrigeration
Electronics – include ECM’s, ECU’s, sensors, etc.
Engine bolt on items – turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling system, etc.
Brake Systems – ABS, Suspension (spring & air)

Able to:

  1. Identify & determine parts required for repair of disassembled units
  2. Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
  3. Safety Road Test vehicles when needed to diagnose malfunctions or ensure they run properly
  4. Perform duties with little or no supervision in a timely & efficient manner
  5. Maintain work area appearance
  6. Use hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, pressure gauges
  7. Use power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks & hoists
  8. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment & machinery
  9. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings to ensure they are in proper operating condition
  10. Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws and reassemble equipment
  11. Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  12. Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using  test instruments such as handheld  computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts & pressure gauges
  13. Examine & adjust protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices.
  14. Inspect & verify dimensions & clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications
  15. Specialize in repairing & maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injections systems
  16. Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
